On Friday, March 13, Charlemagne Palestine leads a special SASSAS soundShoppe open session at the Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock. The soundShoppe noise jam, presented in conjunction with the Center for the Arts, offers the public a unique opportunity to spend the evening with Palestine leading several local improvisers in creating a trance-sound-space.
A private session with participating musicians will take place from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm followed by an unstructured improvisation open to the public beginning at 8:00 pm. Admission for the public performance is $10 at the door.
soundShoppe is a monthly unstructured sound workshop/noise jam for experimental musicians and sound artists presented by SASSAS and hosted by the Center for the Arts Eagle Rock. Joe Potts, founder of soundShoppe, describes it as a place where sound artists can hang out on a regular basis and informally explore their medium. Experienced sound musicians experiment with different approaches and play outside of their comfort zone while novice sound artists have the opportunity to interact with more experienced artists.
