William Basinski is a classically trained musician and composer who has been working in experimental media for over 30 years. Employing obsolete technology and analog tape loops, his haunting and melancholy soundscapes explore the temporal nature of life and resound with the reverberations of memory and the mystery of time. His epic 4-disc masterwork, The Disintegration Loops received international critical acclaim.

Solid Eye is the triumvirate of Rick Potts, Steve Gregoropoulous, and Joseph Hammer, each a longtime participant in the contemporary experimental music scene. Formed in 1992, the group is known for creating soundscapes that can be at once ludicrous and haunting. Hammer employs an ad hoc array of consumer audio technology, tape loops, samplers and analog synthesizers to blur the boundaries between digital and analog. Rick Potts, a founding member of the Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS), has an idiosyncratic methodology that may include playing the electric guitar with an electric toothbrush or street sweeper bristles, as well as employing saxophone, xylophone, musical saw and analog synthesizers. Steve Gregoropoulous joined Solid Eye in 1999 and is best known for his work with WACO, the Wild Acoustic Chamber Orchestra.

def.sound is a published poet, songwriter, Brownswood Bubbler, designer, educator and world traveled DJ . His changed his given birth name, Emmanuel Ricketts, to a goal: Definitive Sound (now shortened to def.sound lower cased in honor of bell hooks). def.sound has supported live acts such as Father John Misty, Zoe Kravitz, Anderson Paak, J*DaVey, ?uestluv, Jessie Boykins III, Open Mike Eagle, Quadron, James Fauntleroy, Theophilus London, Melo-X and Aja Monet, played venues such as MOCA, REDCAT and Pehrspace locally plus toured overseas playing in Amsterdam, the UK, and the Bread and Butter Festival in Berlin. In 2011, def was included in Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Bubblers Vol.8 and received BBC Radio’s top 25 songs of the year honors. Picked as one of the  top 10 artists to watch in 2017 by LA Weekly, his upcoming album is called COLORED.

Lauren Halsey was born in Los Angeles, California in 1987. She builds fantasy sculptures and environments that remix ephemera she gathers with Los Angeles geographies, hyperreal nature, technicolors, outer space and Funk. The works exist as spatial metaphors for liberation, self-definition, displacement and love. She holds an MFA from Yale University (2014) and a BFA from California Institute of the Arts (2012). Lauren recently completed residencies at Recess (2016) and The Studio Museum in Harlem (2014-2015). She is the recipient of the William H. Johnson Prize (2017), Los Angeles Design Festival Edge Award (2017) and Rema Hort Mann Foundation Emerging Artist Award (2014). Lauren’s first solo museum exhibition, we still here, there is currently on view at The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) where she constructed an installation of South Central LA Funk grottos for the public to inhabit.
