We are thrilled to announce that Blast! [13], our annual garden party and fundraiser, returns to the beautiful home of the Hillenburg Family in San Marino on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Blast! [13] features a glam musical tribute to David Bowie and Prince with Mannequins with Kill Appeal, plus Bowie/Prince Karaoke with special guests, along with great food and drink, a reprise of our popular Bootleg LP Art Auction and the return of MC Tom Stern (Freaked, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Man Show). Dublab impresario Ale Cohen spins tunes throughout the afternoon.

More than 80 artists are contributing to a reprise of our Bootleg LP Auction including Aaron Curry, Katie Grinnin, Alice Könitz, Friedrich Kunath and Chris Martin. 1301PE is hosting a pop up preview May 19-21, with an artist reception Thursday, May 19 from 6-9pm.

All proceeds from Blast! [13] support SASSAS’s experimental art and sound programming.

Mannequins with Kill Appeal cover the spectrum of Bowie obscura. A project of former Hollywood Rose member Steve Darrow, Mannequins’s rotating roster of Hollywood rock royalty have played with: The Decadents, Divine Horsemen, Super Heroines, Kim Fowley, Ann Magnusson, The Witches, The Vampowers, Crowbar Salvation, Sonic Medusa, Simon Bonny, Band Who Fell to Earth.

Bowie/Prince Karaoke

A surprise cast of world-class artists and perfomers will rock karaoke versions of their favorite Prince and David Bowie hits, joined by audience members.

Tom Stern

Tom Stern is an American actor, director, writer, and producer living in Los Angeles, California. Along with collaborator Alex Winter he has worked on a number of short films and music videos for bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ice Cube, and Butthole Surfers. They also directed Impact Video Magazine that featured short films, performances, and interviews with the likes of Butthole Surfers, painter Robert Williams, hip hop pioneers Public Enemy, robotic art collective Survival Research Labs, and comedian Bill Hicks.
