Alice Könitz is an artist based in Los Angeles. She works in a variety of media including sculpture made of styrofoam, candies and cardboard, video and photographic collage. Born in Essen, Germany, she attended the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf and received her MFA from California Institute of the Arts. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, in venues such as the Whitney Biennial (2008), Suzanne Vielmetter Projects, Samuel Freeman Gallery, LA><ART, and Kunstverein Norden. Könitz is also the founder of The Los Angeles Museum of Art (LAMOA), an experimental exhibition space that the artist describes as a “platform for an organic institution that lives through participation.” In 2014, The Los Angeles Museum of Art was included in the Hammer Museum’s biennial Made in L.A 2014, winning the Mohn Award.

Wu Tsang is a multi-media artist and award-winning filmmaker. Her films, performances, and installations have been presented at museums and film festivals internationally. Tsang’s first feature WILDNESS premiered at MoMA’s Documentary Fortnight in 2012, Hot Docs (Toronto), and won the Grand Jury Prize for Outstanding Documentary at OUTFEST (Los Angeles). Her recent short YOU’RE DEAD TO ME premiered on PBS and won the 2014 Imagen Award for Best Short. Tsang has presented projects at the Tate Modern (London), the Whitney Museum and the New Museum (New York), the Hammer Museum and MOCA (Los Angeles), Gwangju Biennial (South Korea), Liverpool Biennial (UK), and the 2012 Whitney Biennial (New York). Tsang is a 2014 Rockerfeller Bellagio Creative Arts Fellow and was a 2012 Film Independent Project Involve Directing Fellow.

Dont Rhine co-founded the sound art collective Ultra-red in 1994. While the image determines much of our understanding of activist art, Ultra-red turns the focus to the ear. Drawing on the traditions of popular education, conceptualism, and musique concrète, Ultra-red developed sound investigations with art audiences, community groups and political struggles. The collective currently has ten members based in Los Angeles, New York, Berlin, London and the rural Southwest of England. The collective works in a variety of medium including performance, sound composition, video, works on paper, poetry, and curriculum-development. They have been hosted by art institutions across North America and Europe, developing sound investigations alongside social movements for housing justice, anti-racism, the struggles of migration, gender and sexual rights, the dignity of the poor, and HIV/AIDS activism. In 2011, Ultra-red was selected to participate in the Creative Time, Living As Form exhibition and publication. The collective also took part in the performance program for the 2012 Whitney Biennial and are 2014 fellows with the Akademie der Kunste der Welt in Cologne, Germany. Dont has been a 2007 California Community Foundation fellow and a 2011 fellow with the City Of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. He is also a research fellow at the Social Practice Art Research Center at University of California, Santa Cruz.
