Details

Kirsten Carey is a guitarist/composer from Chicago, IL, who studied at the University of Michigan. Carey’s work pushes genre-boundaries – she widely known for the Ulysses Project, a song cycle based on James Joyce’s novel that combines free jazz, rock, and theater, and has toured the country to widespread acclaim. Her piece “Sasquatch / Happening” was chosen by Elliott Sharp to be featured on Clean Feed Record’s I Never Meta Guitar III. Carey’s duo with drummer Morten Poulsen presented at the 2014 International Society for Improvised Music Conference in New York City. Her present projects include art-punk duo Throwaway and solo doom experiment Shima.
